Rebuilding Trust After Betrayal, Feel Safe in Connection Again
Sexual assault can shatter the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Trusting others may feel impossible, intimacy might feel unsafe, and even the idea of connection can bring fear or confusion. You don’t have to navigate this pain alone—healing and rebuilding are possible.
You might relate if…
⟡ You feel disconnected or distant in your relationships.
⟡ Trusting friends, partners, or loved ones feels impossible.
⟡ Intimacy feels unsafe, overwhelming, or triggering.
⟡ You find yourself pulling away from people who care about you.
⟡ Fear of being hurt again keeps you from opening up.
⟡ You long for closeness, but don’t know how to feel safe in it.
You’re Not Alone
Feeling this way doesn’t mean you’re broken. Healing takes time, and with the right support, you can rebuild trust, restore safety, and open yourself to connection again.
Imagine moving from…
⟡ Reliving the past whenever someone gets too close → to feeling grounded in the present and able to choose the kind of closeness that feels right for you.
⟡ Doubting your own feelings and instincts → to trusting your inner voice and knowing you deserve respect and care.
⟡ Believing you’ll never feel safe with anyone again → to discovering that safety and trust can be rebuilt, one step at a time.
⟡ Questioning whether you’re “too broken” for love or connection → to realizing your worth and building relationships that honor and respect you.
⟡ Keeping your guard up at all times → to allowing yourself to relax with people who’ve earned your trust.
Through Healing Relationships Therapy, you can rebuild trust, foster deeper connections, and create relationships that feel safe, supportive, and aligned with your values—while learning to honor your own boundaries and needs.
Healing Relationships Therapy in Madison, WI Can Help
Meet Jada!
Hi, I’m Jada LaBounty, a therapist in Madison, WI who specializes in supporting survivors of sexual assault and trauma as they navigate relationships and rebuild trust. Many of my clients come to me feeling guarded, disconnected, or unsure if they’ll ever feel safe with others again.
I understand how painful it can be when the very connections that are supposed to feel safe instead bring fear, tension, or uncertainty. The impact of trauma can show up in intimacy, friendships, and even in trusting yourself. My role as a therapist is to provide a steady, compassionate space where you can begin to explore safety, practice boundaries, and slowly rebuild the foundation of trust in a way that feels right for you.
After working together, many clients feel more confident setting boundaries, more at ease in safe relationships, and more connected to themselves. You deserve relationships that feel supportive and the trust in yourself to build them.
Your Healing Journey
Healing from sexual assault and learning to trust again is not linear as it is a process that unfolds at your pace. Together, we’ll move at your pace through each part of the journey.
You’ll gain tools to:
Understanding the Impact: Explore how trauma can affect trust, intimacy, and connection, so you can begin to make sense of how it shows up in your relationships.
Finding Safety in Yourself: Build grounding tools and self-awareness practices to feel more secure in your own body and confident in your instincts.
Restoring Boundaries: Learn to set boundaries that honor your needs, protect your healing, and create clarity in your relationships.
Releasing Shame and Fear: Challenge self-blame and fear of betrayal, allowing space for self-compassion and deeper connection.
Rebuilding Trust and Connection: Gradually rediscover your ability to trust yourself and open to safe, supportive relationships—whether in friendships, family, or intimacy.
This isn’t about “just getting over it.” It’s about creating lasting changes that allow you to experience safety, connection, and fulfillment in your relationships on your own terms.

Yes. Losing faith after trauma is a natural response, but trust can be rebuilt. Therapy often begins with reconnecting to yourself—your instincts, your boundaries, your sense of safety—and from there, taking small steps toward safe, supportive relationships with others.

That’s completely okay. We’ll go at your pace. Therapy can begin with building safety and trust between us, so you never feel pushed to open up before you’re ready.
