For women who act fine on the outside, but aren’t on the inside.
Most women do not come in saying “I have low self-esteem.” They say things like, “I second-guess everything,” “I do not trust myself,” or “I feel like I am never enough.” Self-doubt usually does not begin as a fixed belief about who you are. It is something that gets learned over time through experiences that shaped what you came to expect from yourself, from other people, and from the world around you.
You do not have to justify why you feel this way. We can start right where you are.
Signs self-doubt may be shaping how you move through life
It doesn’t always look the way people expect
You might notice:⟡ You second-guess decisions even after you have already made them

⟡ From feeling like you have to prove your worth… to beginning to feel inherently enough

Through self-esteem and confidence therapy, you can begin to break patterns that hold you back, strengthen your sense of self, and step into life with greater assurance, clarity, and empowerment.
Self-Esteem & Confidence Therapy in Madison, WI Can Help
For many women, self-doubt is not just a mindset issue. It is something that was learned over time through experiences that shaped how you see yourself, what you expect from others, and what you believe you are allowed to need or want.
EMDR therapy helps because it works with the experiences underneath those beliefs. Instead of only trying to change the thoughts on the surface, we gently support your nervous system in processing the moments where those beliefs first took hold.
Why I use EMDR therapy for self-esteem and confidence
As those older experiences begin to lose their emotional charge, the inner voice often starts to shift. The constant self-criticism softens. Decisions feel less overwhelming. There is more space between who you are and the doubt that used to feel automatic.
This work is not about forcing confidence. It is about helping your system update what it learned so that how you see yourself begins to feel more steady, more compassionate, and more aligned with who you are now.
Healing self-esteem is not linear, and it does not look the same for everyone. In our work together, we move at a pace that feels manageable for you, paying attention to what your system can handle at each step and what feels supportive as we go.
What is it like to work with me?
Healing your self-esteem is a process, and it looks different for everyone. In our work together, we move at a pace that feels steady and supportive for you, paying attention to what feels most accessible at each step.
i.
Shifting the inner voice that holds you back
We begin by noticing the patterns of self-talk that tend to show up automatically. Over time, you learn how to recognize these thoughts without getting pulled into them, and gently begin to loosen their hold so they feel less absolute and less defining.
ii.
Strengthening boundaries and self-respect
We explore what it looks like to honor your needs in relationships, conversations, and daily life. This includes learning how to say no, express yourself more clearly, and begin to protect your energy without as much guilt or fear.
iii.
Rebuilding confidence and self-trust over time
As things begin to shift internally, there is more space to notice your growth and how you are showing up differently in your life. Confidence is not forced, but built slowly through small moments of self-trust, clarity, and self-appreciation that start to feel more natural over time.

Meet Jada, Your Self-Esteem & Confidence Therapist
Hi, I’m Jada LaBounty. I’m a therapist in Madison who works with women navigating self-doubt, low confidence, and a disconnection from how they truly see themselves. I understand how exhausting it can feel to constantly second-guess yourself, compare yourself to others, or carry an ongoing sense of not being enough. Over time, those patterns can shape how you think, how you relate to others, and how you move through the world, even when nothing on the outside fully explains it.
In our work together, we begin to understand where these beliefs come from and how they have been reinforced over time. We gently start to notice the patterns that keep self-doubt in place and create more space to relate to yourself differently. This can include working with self-critical thoughts, building more self-compassion, and strengthening your ability to trust your own voice and decisions. As things shift, confidence begins to feel less like something you have to earn and more like something you can access and build on over time.
You deserve to feel more grounded in yourself, more steady in your choices, and more at home in who you are.

Other areas where this work overlapsSelf-esteem and confidence often reflect deeper experiences that have shaped how you see yourself over time. For many women, self-doubt develops gradually through patterns of criticism, comparison, or feeling like they are never quite enough, and it can become an internal voice that feels automatic.
At its core, this is often connected to self-trust and how safe it has felt to rely on your own voice and decisions. As we work with what is present in your life now, there is often space for these deeper patterns to begin to soften, allowing confidence to feel more accessible over time.
